Band Protocol (BAND), launched in September 2019, is a decentralized oracle system that incentivizes validators to provide and verify real-world data to allow decentralized applications (dapps) on blockchains to tap on. Band is built on its own chain using the Cosmos SDK, allowing it to facilitate data transfer across multiple blockchains. Recently, Band Protocol has integrated with Horizen EON, an EVM-compatible sidechain designed for scalability. This partnership brings Band Protocol's secure and scalable data feeds to the Horizen EON platform, allowing developers to build more robust and innovative dApps.

A new hook enabling Know Your Customer (KYC) verification on Uniswap V4 pools has been introduced. The hook allows for KYC checks before users can trade in a pool. The hook was introduced as an opt-in feature by a community developer and uses a nonfungible token (NFT) for verification. Some critics argue that this could pave the way for regulatory whitelisting of DeFi protocols while some defend the hook as beneficial for projects needing to comply with regulations. Uniswap V4, featuring these customizable hooks, is expected to launch in early 2024 and will be accessible to governance-approved entities.
